This Wild Crafted Wild Yam Salve is a traditional topical formula used in folk herbalism to support menstrual and hormonal comfort, ease uterine and pelvic tension, and help relieve cramping, heaviness, and lower back discomfort associated with monthly cycles.
Wild yam has long been used by Indigenous and Southern folk medicine makers as a topical ally for menstrual cramps and abdominal tension. Applied externally, it has traditionally been worked with to help relax tight muscles and tissues in the lower abdomen and pelvic region.
Chaste berries have been used in traditional herbal systems in relation to cycle regulation and hormonal rhythm. In topical preparations, they are included to support balance and ease during cyclical shifts rather than as a hormone replacement.
Lady’s mantle has a long history of use as a uterine tonic in folk traditions. Topically, it has been used to support feelings of containment, tone, and stability in the pelvic area.
Red clover has traditionally been used to support the blood, tissues, and circulation, and in topical use it has been worked with to encourage softening and relief in areas of congestion or tension.
This salve is made using the alcohol intermediary method to extract a broader range of plant constituents before infusion into olive and castor oils. Castor oil has traditionally been used topically to support circulation and relieve stagnation, making it a common companion for abdominal and pelvic applications.
