White willow bark has been used for hundreds of years to help ease the aches and pains of being human! The bark of white willow contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). In combination with the herb's powerful anti-inflammatory compounds, salicin is thought to be responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb. White willow bark is also known for its ability to help lower a high fever. People commonly use willow bark for back pain, osteoarthritis, fever, flu, muscle pain, arthritic pain, headaches, menstrual pain and more.
